The warehouse is dirty and well lit. Seven white College students – male and female - work over their respective workstations. Each is working on a cliché native art piece, some painting – animals and figures in the typical Morisseau style. They work by tracing and painting over projections onto their canvasses. Some sculpting, roughing up machine cut mass productions by hand to make them look individual. The proprietor – a youngish Chinese man – watches their work carefully. You must all work faster! This shipment has to go out tonight! The buyer has called me twice today already! Fuck! Chin is running a scam into mainland China where he sells counterfeit Native Art to nouveau rich Chinese collectors through an art dealer in Shanghai. These could look a lot better if you gave us a a bit more time. You know what we’re doing right? These are being sold as original works in the Far East. You’re joking right? It’s all junk anyway – Native art! So easy to copy! Ha ha! FEMALE PAINTER #2 Come on Honey – what did you think this was? A very native looking middle-aged and striking woman walks in. Hey! Look at these – I’m so talented! When do we leave for Shanghai? She grabs Chin from behind; he is obviously enjoying it. They couldn’t get enough of you last month. The shipment will take a month, we will need to be there before it arrives. They’re fondling each other as they make their way to a back room. I hear that they’re selling these for 40 grand a pop over there. No fucking way! How do you think he can afford that Mercedes? It’s not fair that he makes all the money from our skills Tell me about it. You got any other skills?
