Rita removes her head scarf and takes off her grey overalls before making her way to a large sink where she joins other women and begins her routine of scrubbing her hands and arms with a brush and soap. There’s a lot of noise and chat with women in various states of undress, applying make-up at the crowded mirror, and getting ready to leave. Doris and Tilda are among them. Rita rinses the soap off her arms and dries them with a towel. Making her way to her locker, she opens the metal door to reveal a photograph of George stuck on the inside which snaps her out of her ritual.
