CLIVE

(strangled, at the Officials) Where is he?
FEMALE OFFICIAL
We don’t know.
RITA
Where is my boy? She is experiencing mounting hysteria.
MALE OFFICIAL

RITA
You were meant to be looking after him-
MALE OFFICIAL
All the protocols were followed in accordance with the law.
FEMALE OFFICIAL
Here are our details, Mrs Hanway. She hands Rita a card.
FEMALE OFFICIAL
We are truly sorry. If he comes back home, please let us know. Rita stands a moment, fists clenched, poised on the edge of hysteria.
